Giorgos Papakonstantinou is a Cypriot littérateur whose practice combines literary creation with artistic research into the material, performative, and participatory dimensions of writing. Working across literature, theatre, and participatory art, he explores language as both a literary medium and a material system, investigating how writing technologies shape the possibilities of expression.

He has published six books, including My Heart Speak Softly (Almyra Publications), Sunset, Colours, and Cypriot Prose Writings in the Cypriot dialect, as well as the translated collections Unrefined and Shadows in the Dark (Ogdoo Publications) in Greek and other languages. His work explores themes of identity, human relationships, and existence across different cultural contexts.

Since 2023, he has organised the Writers Taking Over initiative, promoting creative collaboration and dialogue through literature. Through his participatory writing project StoryTyper, he invites audiences to become part of the creative writing process using a typewriter. The project resulted in a publication featuring stories written with visitors during the Animafest residency in 2023.

His theatrical works include Un-Soul (2023), the theatrical concert Colours (2024), versed performance Flat Shoes (2025), and the theatrical concert Shadow (2025), all of which engage with contemporary social and political themes through literary and performative forms. His work has also been presented through performances such as Massacred Women, Silent Spectator, The Struggle of the Elements, and the staged reading Suicidal AI.

In 2025, he was awarded a Culture Moves Europe mobility grant for artistic research in Athens, where he developed research for his forthcoming book The Violinist of Death.

His work has been presented in Cyprus, Greece, and the United Kingdom, exploring contemporary cultural issues through literature, theatre, and participatory artistic practice.
