It is time I spoke to you, my loneliness. I have accepted your invitation. I have set my talismans aside, in a corner, anchors to the world in which I once stood. Perhaps one day I may find my way back. Your world frightens the soul, devours the mind and the body. Οh, the dead body that wanders aimlessly through the world of the living, searching once more for the taste it once knew.
Tonight, the giants of my past have risen before me, towering statues. I stand alone in my room. How did so many shadows find their way here, walking about? You make a plaything of memory, and with it you torment me, loneliness. The faces of the past come alive in those strange, intense moments when the soul was not alone. You set up a little shadow theatre upon the white walls of my prison. You seek to reopen my wounds with that sickening laughter of yours.
So, these are your weapons. Then all that remains for me is to fall in love with you and dance. One last dance and then disappear. To turn white among the shadows and disappear.
Tonight, then, I shall take a walk among the shadows. To the place where people bury all the past they have forgotten. Every memory, every feeling and every longing left to time to devour never truly fades. I am certain you know this. It merely leaves the world of men and travels, free at last, into the world of shadows. That is where I wish to walk tonight. So, my mind has decided. A traveller through hidden realms, a dreamer in a world that has been forgotten.
Am I afraid? I have thought about it many times. Yes, I fear the shadows, just as I fear the world's spirits and unseen creatures. They harbour ghosts within them. But I shall change my form, so that I may fit in. So, they will not be able to touch me. I shall become a shadow, walk forgotten, a descendant of the absurd beneath a sky filled with little stars to show me the way.
